No kidding, when you are in Singapore planning a Singapore shopping experience whereby rain is common especially during the wet months which are between June to September and December to March. Always best to have an umbrella tugged into your bag. You don't want to be caught off guard. However if you plan to visit Singapore and you do not have an umbrella with you, you can always get it cheap when you need it. Singapore is not called shopping paradise for no reasons.

No matter what the weather condition is, you will be kept cool and dry as you shop.

If you are visiting Singapore for the first time, the must-do list for shopping and experiencing Singaporean's hospitality are listed below:

  • For fabulous knick knacks and other memorable souvenirs they can be found at Chinatown, Arab Street, Little India, Holland Village, Katong and Tampines.
  • One of the best times to visit Singapore is during our mid-year Great Singapore Sale. This is now a global tourist event for us. Discount during this period is huge and you will get really great offers.

Foreign visitors who spend more than S$100 in a single receipt are entitled for refund of 7% GST tax. You will need to present your passport for these claims.

Simply there are too many to list. As you explore, you will find one that you will particularly enjoy the layout and ambiance. If you only have a little time, then head down to the following places for specialized items:

  • Hi-tech electronic appliances and gadgets. Lucky Plaza, Sim Lim Square or Far East Plaza.
  • Designer labels and fashion items. Orchard Road - Tangs, Paragon Shopping Centre, Wisma Atria, Ngee Ann City, ION and Palais Renaissance.
  • Cultural knick knacks. Chinatown street stalls, Chinatown Complex, Yue Hwa Emporium, Little India on Serangoon Road, Mustafa Centre (24 hours department store).
