Jazz piano lessons is not for everyone

Practise your piano playing as often as you can to gain the flexibility you need tobecome really expressive. In particular sing what you play, play what you sing and listen carefully to what you play. You can even try recording yourself occasionally so you can listen to how you sound and improve on it. Your practice session or piano lesson should include some warm-up rhythmic exercises, scales and of course improvisation.
Work on your musical memory. As you learn, you will be involved in identifying and incorporating melodies, rhythm and chord sequences. In order to get the flow of musical ideas going in your improvisation it is important to have a good musical memory.
Listen carefully to recordings. You should study the recordings closely so as to work out how many jazz effects were done. That’s how you learn. Listen and imitate.
